Requirements
• Electrical Trade Test (ESETA/LGSETA)(Compulsory).
• Trade Tested Artisan or Technical / Professional qualification
Electrical (Heavy current is compulsory
• A minimum of 5 year’s supervisory experience in the MV voltage
maintenance environment water treatment works voltage
• Switching Authority on MV systems. Appointment as an Authorised
Person in terms of the NRS 040 or SAQA 242766 (Compulsory)
• Knowledge and understanding of MV Electrical Engineering
networks, apparatus, drawings and MV SLD’s
• A high degree of computer literacy, MS Office Suite and SAP
Production
• Organising, planning and communicating Skills
• Construction supervisory sills
• Basic Project Management experience.
• A valid code B/EB driver’s licence.
SPECIAL CONDITION INCLUDE:
• Required to work in all weather conditions
• Required to work outside normal working hours during
emergencies and overtime, and will be required to do
standby duties.
• Will be required to participate in the Essential Users Vehicle
Scheme.
• The incumbent must be physically fit, able bodied and cannot be
colour blind.
• Must have own reliable transport. ESU Scheme
Key Performance Areas
• Co-ordinates tasks/activities associated with the implementation
of procedures and monitoring and reporting on sequences/
outcomes with regard to the relevant MV section.
• Review MV Switching programmes for the operation of MV
equipment on treatment plants to ensure sequenced and safe MV
Operations and recording plant statuses.
• Function as a Control Officer for the MV Networks under his/her direct control, to energise or de-energised MV plant,
equipment and Networks.
• Plans, prioritizes and schedules project and maintenance work by
ensuring the MV section is capably positioned in terms of material,
equipment and personnel to achieve outcomes of the functional
area maintenance programs.
• Preparing resource allocation schedules (cost, material and time
spread) and priority programs for execution and conducting
briefing sessions with specialist/supervisory personnel and/or
contractors, explaining requirements and outcomes.
• Co-ordinates and control tasks associated with controlling
personnel performance productivity and discipline by ensuring
human resources needs are identified and attended to supporting
the accomplishment of departmental objectives in terms of
productivity and performance.
• Monitors and evaluates progress with regards to repair,
construction, installation and maintenance type work by ensuring
work undertaken is completed in accordance with laid down
specifications quality standards and cost measures as stipulated in
contracts or work orders.
• Operate advance Medium Voltage Equipment, such as various
types of MV Switchgear and MV Variable Frequency
Drives used in MV Motor Startups.
• Performs contract management tasks/ activities associated
with the development of tenders for the MV section by ensuring
goods and services required by the section are developed to
enhance operations and services delivery to client branches.
• Performs specific administrative tasks/ activities associated with the
updating and maintaining of records/ information related to the
activities/ operations of the MV section by ensuring accurate
operational information is maintained and made available on
request and specific administrative reporting deadlines are
complied with
