Requirements
– Relevant Degree (B degree/ BTech in Electrical
Engineering or GIS).
– A minimum of 8 years relevant experience.
– Extensive experience in the recording and capture
of electricity distribution systems in GIS.
– Extensive supervisory experience.
– Excellent personnel management skills.
– Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
– Problem solving skills.
– A high degree in computer literacy.
– Relevant GIS courses.
– Relevant CAD courses.
– A valid Code B driver’s licence

Key Performance Areas
– Planning, organising, directing and controlling all technical and
non-
technical functions of the section.
– Evaluating the capability of prospective employees and
participating
in the interviewing and final selection process.
– Monitoring on-site recording of electrical distribution networks.
– Verifying on-site investigations of specific proposed substation sites.
– Monitoring the capture of detailed high/ medium/ low voltage and
public lighting as-built information of cable routes, overhead lines,
substation layouts, and cable joints, etc.
– Initiating the capture of protection drawings for planned and
existing
substations.
– Monitoring compliance to Drawing and Record Centre norms and
data standards.
– Engaging with spatial data sources to promote conformance to
local
and national standards, and directorate policies.
– Validating production of designs for new works (Job Proposals).
– Approving engineering and architectural designs.
– Ensuring the quality and suitability of requirements, comments and conditions pertaining to excavation wayleaves, special permits
and the sale of Utility/City land.
– Monitoring and advancing the issuing of excavation wayleaves,
and scaffolding, hoarding and crane permits by technical and
administrative staff in the section.
– Liaising with customers, consultants and other representatives
of the customer on service requirements.
– Corresponding to customers, consultants and service providers
to convey information or resolve queries or problems.
– Managing the maintenance of activity and record-keeping systems
and the execution of specific actions to facilitate the updating of
registers and schedules.
– Ensuring the verification and approval of transactional and
procedural documentation/ forms prior to circulation or
processing.
